This past Sunday we took our worship on the road to Camp Sealth to experience worship in the grandeur of Creation. What a glorious morning it was! A piano with two silent keys couldn't dampen the enthusiam of our singing or the choir's anthem. Mary Liz and Don joined the church and we celebrated World Communion Sunday. After worship we enjoyed pulled pork BBQ and cole slaw in the dining room overlooking the Colvos Passage. If you looked down toward the beach you could see the boat Steve Church sailed to church in. What fun it was to be together in a camp setting.

As the kick-off to our stewardship campaign, Karen Lomax told us about the time her brother tried to introduce chocolate pudding to his two year-old son. His son wanted nothing to do with the brown gooey lump. Karen's brother tried every trick he knew to get his son to try the pudding, knowing how much he would like it once he tried it. Eventually the little boy did taste the pudding and loves it to this day. Karen explained that tithing is like pudding. You can't imagine that you will like it until you actually try it and then you find that you enjoy it.

Over the next few weeks we will be reading a devotional guide designed to enrich our lives through spiritual renewal focusing on stewardship. Stewardship has everything to do with our relationship to God--it's only marginally about money. The larger question centers on how we use all the resources that God has given us in relationship to one another. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature was a great way to acknowledge the abundance of Creation and the many blessings we enjoy.
